On 14 December 2025 at 7:00 PM, the Main Stage of the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre will resonate with music rarely heard on contemporary stages. The Cooperative Choir – a thirty-member, high-energy ensemble born out of a shared passion for group singing – will present “Hoson Zes / Shine”, a concert based on contemporary arrangements of ancient Greek music, one of the artistic cornerstones of Teatr CHOREA.

This is a performance that fuses rhythmic force with a primal, almost archaic vocal expression. Raw, trance-like sounds – ancient yet strikingly current – evoke the echoes of Europe’s cultural origins, still capable of moving and electrifying today’s audiences. “Hoson Zes / Shine” is not only a concert, but a manifesto of community, revealing the extraordinary power that emerges when voices gather in one purpose and one rhythm.

The Cooperative Choir was founded in 2024 as part of the Spaces of Art Łódź – Theatre programme, quickly becoming a space for learning, artistic growth, and musical courage. The ensemble brings together experienced vocalists and those taking their first steps in ensemble singing – a meeting that has resulted in a unique sonic quality that Kraków audiences will hear during the concert.

Two exceptional artists are responsible for the musical direction:

Elina Toneva – singer, CHOREA Theatre actress, pedagogue, and co-creator of music for most of the ensemble’s projects. Her work combines extensive artistic experience with pedagogical practice and a rare sensitivity to traditional vocal techniques.

Grzegorz Wierus – conductor, educator, and advocate for musical culture, collaborating with major musical institutions in Poland, from opera stages to philharmonic orchestras. He is known for his premiere productions and innovative educational projects that demonstrate how music can reach every audience.

The concert “Hoson Zes / Shine” premiered during the Retroperspektywy 2025 International Theatre Festival: IN FORM, where it was met with tremendous enthusiasm.
