What will the world be like after the plague?
Will we hand over all personal freedoms to the church without a word of protest?
Even though Peter Barnes set the plot of his comedy in the fourteenth-century France during and after the plague epidemic, it is difficult to find a better text for today's times. Jan Klata's production plays with the exuberant form of drama, uses all the nuances of Stanisław Barańczak's translation, hits the spot with a thesis that only laughter can save us. It also shows the great possibilities of the actors of Nowy Theatre in Poznań. Łukasz Schmidt plays the leading role of father Flote. The cast also includes – in the silent part of Sonneri, known as the master of bells – Janusz Andrzejewski, who played this character in the famous performance directed by Eugeniusz Korin and staged in Teatr Nowy in the early 1990s. Klata's production refers directly to his.
