In the project of the choreographer Ramona Nagabczyńska, theatre, dance and opera are combined and they question one another. The opera is deprived of the usual pathos, the dance is often reduced to stillness, the voices of women resound strongly, somehow against the world, which often tries to suppress them. The performers play the operatic heroines, we hear the famous arias, but everything is annulled again and again, destroyed by the obscenity of the gesture, the inappropriateness of the movement, and the exposure that avoids the literalness. “Silenzio” is a feminist performance, but one that goes against the dominant narrative in the public debate. It is worth watching it, bearing in mind the current mood of the Polish society.
