DOG
Director:
Barbara Bendyk
Duration:
45'

A dog escapes from a young couple in a marital crisis. Distressed, they seek help from a woman who claims to communicate telepathically with animals. Her abilities, however, prove useful in more than just the search for the missing pet. Dog is an exploration of interpersonal and interspecies relationships from both perspectives. This diploma work was developed under the supervision of Marcin Wierzchowski. The script evolved from actor improvisations, and professional sources and literary inspirations on the subject of relationships with animals and communication with the non-human world were used.

Barbara Bendyk is a third-year student of directing at the Department of Directing and Dramaturgy at AST Kraków, and a graduate in painting and experimental film from the Academy of Art in Szczecin. She enjoys discussing interspecies relationships and medical visits, and advocates straightforward solutions as they save resources and energy. Much of her time is spent in silence and at behavioural courses.
