This diploma production by the students of the AST National Academy of Theatre Arts in Kraków is based on Marek Miller’s Sekta made in Poland documentary book and documentary materials collected by the creatives. In the country where flat-earthers and reptilians of various hues come to prominence, and a popular vocalist questions the pandemic, and all conspiracy theories thrive, the director Marcin Liber and students of the AST in Kraków seek answers to the question what a sect is. It is evil, we know that for certain, but what else? Why do sects still pose an attractive course for escaping from the reality, and what do the followers seek in them? Moreover, what does the fact that the denizens of our contemporary world know everything and yet they need sects so badly say about our world? Next Level is a journey overflowing with risk and emotion. No one knows where it is going to lead us, yet it’s definitely a journey worth taking.
